The ride up isn't for the meek. I'm told that some drivers won't go up the hill, but ours did. I'm pretty sure that if the fully loaded Nissan Sentra had stopped in a few places, that we'd had to get out to get it started back up the hill. The road is a bit rough and Steep! The good. The view. Nothing in PV like it. You really should go, to enjoy this view. Surrounded by dense forest and no other business or sounds, this was truly enjoyable. Lean over the wall a bit to hear the local bugs making bug sounds! The food was pretty good, but not perfection, like one might expect at a place like this. *I should probably note that with most food in NV or PV, that the local cooking style was a bit off my palate, so it was probably better than I rate it, but it tasted a bit oily overall. We called for reservations. I'd recommend this, as if the place was full, there is no walking down the street to the next place for dinner. The bad **Note - they don't take cards. Have your cash with you, as there is no ATM just around the corner!

Las Carmelitas can be found within the Maritime Terminal, which is where the cruise ships come in and where you can disembark on many of the adventure packages offered in Puerto Vallarta. The waitresses/hostesses are very friendly and helpful. I've had the quesadilla and the nachos. The quesadilla is really good and comes with beans and rice on the side. The nachos were okay, but nothing spectacular. The restaurant has breakfast and lunch items, as well as bottled drinks and snacks. Super helpful when going on a day trip. There are also shops next to the restaurant where you can pick up last minute things, or do some tourist shopping. Depending on the trip you are doing, they'll recommend bug spray, sunscreen, waterproof phone bags, etc... Great little waiting area, with good food.
